Some Stuff for the Record

Mostly some info for new readers!

Currently playing:
Alpha Protocol
Deadly Premonition
Super Street Fighter IV (relatively regularly)

Have not yet played:
Red Dead Redemption
Assassins Creed 2
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Heavy Rain
Probably some other things people are telling me I should play…

Last major release I played to completion was Mass Effect 2. I don’t finish every game that I play, sadly.

I spoiler games in discussion of them, typically if they are a year old or more, without a specific warning.  Difficult to discuss games academically without that. Since I knew I wasn’t getting a PS3 in the immediate future I went ahead and just read all the spoilers for Heavy Rain for example, just because I was interested in reading what people had to say without worrying about it.

I don’t feel, by the way, as if I really have anything substantial to add to the “are games art” debate.  In most ways it’s a circular conversation and always goes back to the definition of the word art, a slippery, difficult word at best. Other words we game academics have a hard time defining simply are “game” and “fun.”
