More on Phoenix Wright and other Capcom faire

Since I wrote about Phoenix Wright once, I just want to mention that this article on how it relates to the real Japanese court system is fascinating.  Phoenix Wright’s Objection at the Escapist.  Here I thought it was describing some kind of imaginary future-court of Japan and didn’t really resemble the real system…

Still playing Street Fighter this month. Not much to discuss about it in a deep mechanics sense that isn’t covered better on fighting game forums throughout the world, though I do believe I am starting to find the system of player rankings on X-Box live to be a bit curious.  After about 30 matches with my “main” character (Rose) I’m now ranked D+, which… isn’t excellent, but nobody that I run in to seems to be ranked above C. At first I thought that this was because the game was simply matching me with people of my own rank approximately, but then I realized that this rank was only for characters you actually used, and not your rank in general.  Looking at the leader-boards is starting to lead me to believe that nobody, in practical terms, ever actually ranks above “C,” which is why C-rank is what the best Achievement is for and not any rank higher than that…?  Again, as far as I can tell; this may be all speculation.

And just to round out my Capcom-fuelled thoughts, I wait for excited anticipation after the announcement of Deadpool in MVC3 (he is my favorite character; it’s not my fault he’s overexposed now!; I liked him before he was cool, etc), and a little nervous confusion after the announcement of Megaman Online, whatever that turns out to be.
